Sessions are open format, meaning you may begin at any week during the course. You are encouraged to join us on any week.

We meet on Monday evenings from 6:30 - 8:30 PM (EST) via the Zoom platform. Due to restrictions on ability to adequately allow sufficient discussion time, we sometimes limit the number of group participants.

If you are anywhere on your journey from separation, newly divorced, long term relationship breakup, or even divorced for years, but still need healing, wholeness, or support, this course is for you.

DivorceCare offers hope and healing in a safe environment, as well as practical information on how to navigate your life after separation/divorce. We can't wait to have you!

There are many people who are deeply hurting because of the pain that accompanies separation and divorce. They are found in almost every church and community.

Divorce cuts a wide path of destruction. Husband, wife, children, parents, other family members, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and many others are drawn into the process and hurt through the divorce.

The church has a biblical mandate to serve and care for one another as the Lord has cared for us. There is little or no help for people experiencing divorce in our community, and we saw the needs of people hurting from divorce.

  • Confidentiality – anything that is said in the group stays in the group. NEVER share anything you have heard in a session with anyone anywhere. What goes on in DivorceCare, STAYS IN DIVORCECARE!!!
  • Facilitators of DivorceCare are not counselors, psychiatrists or psychologists.
  •  Understand that this is a biblically based and Christ-centered program and that divorce-related topics will be looked at through the lens of the Bible.
  • Don’t compare your situation or level of pain to others. Each participant’s experience is unique (like your thumbprint).
  • Do your healing work by coming to your support group, using your participant workbook, journaling and most of all talking about your issues.
  • Make a commitment to the process. Please ATTEND every session in the 13-week series. You may also find it necessary to attend two or three 13-week cycles before you are ready to move on.
  • Speak for YOURSELF only and do not cross talk; respect others’ opinions. DO NOT judge or correct others.
  • Facilitators have the right to remove any person from the group who has misrepresented himself/herself (a dater, group hopper or a person who has never experienced separation or divorce).
  • There is a “NO dating policy.” Your focus needs to be on your recovery, NOT on replacement.
  • There is a private zoom link registration required to enter.  This is sent after you register on divorcecare.org.
  •  Group members agree to allow facilitators to use comments made or insights discovered by the member (no names used) as helpful examples for others struggling with similar issues.

Testimonials

REFLECTION ON MY HEALING JOURNEY WITH DIVORCECARE

I started classes with Divorcecare on Monday, May 6th, 2024.  My therapist recommended it.

I came in broken, deeply hurt, angry, scared, lonely, confused, sick and depressed, all because I have been cheated on, lied to for many years and finally abandoned by my husband of 30+ years even at the height of a severe panic attack.

Divorcecare has been a lifesaver for me.  Thank God! The personalized prayers from our facilitator, Ms. Tjuana Smith, from our first meeting and at every meeting, have been soothing and reassuring of God’s love for me. The scriptures, personal stories shared in the videos and our class have helped me with the following:

1.     Loosened my deep hurt and anger. Isaiah 61:1-3.

2.     Helped me to rely completely on God and focus on God’s love for ME. Psalm 55:22. John 3:16.

3.     Helped me to stop replaying the things he did that hurt me and instead start replaying God’s blessings on me. 2 Corinthians 10:5 “Take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

4.     Helped me to shift my activities to other people who care and love me more than “this one person.”

5.     Helped me to redirect my expectations.  I have come up with the conviction that:

No Expectations = No Surprises.  No Surprises = No Pains.  And this conviction is working to reduce my frustrations with this “one person.”

6.     Provided me with many strategies on how to trust God and live in happiness even in the face of the challenges of neglect by my spouse.

Through Divorcecare, I have walked from deep hurt, hate and unforgiveness to peace, wellness (in my mind, body and soul) and forgiveness. My perspective has shifted from my hurt to my God and His purpose for creating me.  And I still marvel at how God can use His Holy Spirit to give us daily renewal even in this wicked world.

Thank you to all those at Divorcecare.

God bless this ministry.

Thank you, my sister, Tjuana! God bless you.
